Description
The Paramount, full name "Ballroom of the Paramount Hotel", was built in 1932 and officially opened on December 14, 1933. For a time, it was a gathering place for celebrities, neon lights flashing, jazz echoing, and a constant stream of dancers coming and going. Charlie Chaplin, a genius star in the film industry, visited twice accompanied by Mei Lanfang; the patriotic general Zhang Xueliang often lingered here; the legendary couple Chen Xiangmei and Chennault chose this place as the place for their engagement; Zhang Lu, Bai Hong, Zhou Xuan, Gong Qiuxia and other famous singers and divas showed off their singing voices and competed for beauty here. The renovation of the Paramount was officially launched in 2013, which took 3 years and invested 120 million yuan. The renovation work was based on the principle of "repairing the old as it was", referring to a large amount of historical and cultural materials, and preserving the style of the Shanghai dance hall in the 1930s. Today, the glory of the Paramount has reappeared, not only the appearance is extremely gorgeous, but also the interior is magnificent. Huge crystal chandeliers, spring wood floors, classic glass dances...all those high-end scenes that can only be seen in old movies can be reproduced. On the second floor, there are boxes named after the eight famous actors, each with a different style, showing gorgeousness. There is also the Charlie Chaplin Round Hall, the Young Marshal Glass Dance Floor, and the "Flying Tiger General" Chennault Chen Xiangmei Round Hall. On the third floor is the nostalgic big ballroom, the style is the night Shanghai in the 1930s, and there is also an international dance standard dance floor, retro and classic. The reopened Paramount has restored some of the signature entertainment projects at the time, and performances such as tea dance, banquet dance, and jazz can be enjoyed here.
